Blog Choice

Laundry is a process that is either hated or loved. Usually, it is hated by procrastinators and chore-despising humans. On the other hand, laundry lovers are usually perfectionist, task-loving individuals. I my self am a laundry lover.

1) Laundry is a science. This scientific process begins by gathering all the dirty laundry in your house and setting it in its rightful place, the laundry room.

2) Once you have your dirty laundry in once space, then next step is the sorting of the colours. You see, many laundry virgins have learned the hard way about this simple step. The darks go with the darks, the whites go with the whites, the colours with the colours... You don't want the startling realization that your white shirt is now a light pink, now do you? That's what I thought.

3) This next step may have you laundry haters shaking in your boots but don't you worry... You are just scared of the unknown. Stare down the settings on your washing machine, visualize what type of load you are about to wash. Is it big? Is it small? Should it be washed by cold or hot water? What type of cycle should you set your machine to? These are all very important questions a laundry do-er must ask him/herself. If it helps simply say these choices out loud for vocal repetition.

4) It's down hill for here, friends. Next you must take the bottle of laundry detergent in one hand, take your measuring utensil in the other... and pour. Once you have the proper amount of detergent measured, simply pour it into the machine like a witch pouring an ingredient into her cauldron. Laundry is magical.

5) Take your hands and gather your dirty laundry in your arms, now set it free... place it delicately in your laundry machine, it is about to go on an adventure. Close the lid of the washer. This is a private adventure.

6) The last step of this scientific, therapeutic process is simple. Turn on your laundry machine and let the rhythmic, constant sound of your laundry becoming clean embody you.

These clear, precise instructions are meant to help transform you laundry haters to laundry lovers. Once the process of laundry is mastered I believe it can be a therapeutic escape for the laundry do-er. What has been stereotyped as a nasty chore is actually a beautiful gift that has fortunately been given to us all.
